Over 160 participants from over 20 countries at the 2nd International Trade Fair for Museums, Conservation and Heritage 2006 in Cologne

EXPONATEC COLOGNE has twice as many exhibitors as last time

Four weeks before the start of the International Trade Fair for Museums, Conservation and Heritage, the target that Koelnmesse has set for the 2nd EXPONATEC COLOGNE has already been reached: Over 160 participants from over 20 countries, twice as many as at the premiere in 2004, will present their products in Cologne from 15th to 18th February 2006. The space that Koelnmesse reserved for the event on the ground floor of Hall 4 is all booked up.

"The strong growth in attendance at EXPONATEC COLOGNE underscores the fact that Koelnmesse is offering the sector the right concept at the right time," says Oliver P. Kuhrt, Executive Vice President of Koelnmesse. For Kuhrt, that concept includes the parallel COLOGNE FINE ART show, which presents art and handcrafts spanning more than 3,000 years from over 190 galleries, art dealers and antiquarian bookshops. That is part of the reason why the "crème de la crème of the museum suppliers of the world are assembling in Cologne," says Kuhrt. Among others, they include: Ausstellungsmanufaktur Hertzer (Germany), Burkhardt Leitner constructiv (Germany), Carpe event production (Germany), Click Netherfield (UK), First Glas (Germany), Frank Europe (Germany), System 2040 (Germany), G + B pronova (Germany), Glasbau Hahn (Germany), Goppion (Italy), Linsinger Kultur (Austria), Lord Cultural Ressources (Germany), M + A (Germany), Magista (Netherlands), MBA (Germany), Meyvaert (Belgium), Museumstechnik GmbH (Germany), Vitrinen- und Glasbau Reier (Germany), Research Casting International (Canada), Schott AG (Germany), Sehner GmbH (Germany), stabaArte (Germany) and Temus (Germany).

According to Kuhrt, the internationally-orientated seminar and symposium programme of EXPONATEC COLOGNE, which was publicized very early and features first-rate speakers, has also been very well received in Germany and beyond. "It's one thing that contributes to bringing first-class trade visitors to the fair," Kuhrt said.

The Art Loss Register (Germany) is organizing a supporting programme symposium on art theft called "Hot art, cold cash," which includes the special exhibition "Der gestohlene Blick" (The Stolen Glance). The European Heritage Association, Zagreb, is organizing "The Best in Heritage Excellence Club" event, which will last three days. Europa Nostra, The Hague, is participating with the symposium "Museums, Museology and Cultural Heritage - Will the 21st Century bring Change or Will Memory Fade Away?" The TÜV Rheinland Group is holding its 5th International Symposium on Fire-Extinguishing Equipment in the framework of EXPONATEC COLOGNE. There will be a panel discussion on "Art and Culture Marketing." Topics dealt with in the two panel discussions organized by Cologne College include "Contemporary Art and Restoration Theory" and "Protection of Historical Monuments - An Engine for the Economy?" And the Registrars Deutschland will lead a panel discussion on the topic "EU Tendering Law and Exhibitions: Application, Call for Tenders, Problems." One timely addition in this context is a gathering of a specialist section of the Verband der Restauratoren (German Association of Restorers). Titled "Preventative Conservation," this event will take place on 18th February 2006 in the lecture room of Hall 4, ground floor.

With its broad range of products and services, EXPONATEC is not only geared towards art museums but towards all types of exhibition venues. The trade fair also encompasses the areas of restoration and conservation, including the entire field of cultural heritage preservation. EXPONATEC COLOGNE's long-term partners are the international organizations "The Best in Heritage," "Europa Nostra" and ICOM (International Council of Museums), which also contribute to the fair's supporting programme.
