Vienna (pte024/12.06.2013/15:29) Over 100 Swarovski staff who lost their jobs last week have been given a "new chance", says the company's director.
The 110 workers who were laid off have been told they can take advantage of a new social plan offering training and help with finding new jobs.
The 'Work Foundation' which will allow each employee to claim up to 11,000 Euros includes training in welding, fork-lift driving, or help finishing an apprenticeship or degree.
Director Maria Steibl said: "As bad as losing a job is, this work foundation is a chance that many can take up."
Swarovski is putting 9,500 Euros into the project with the rest coming from the Tirol region and the business council.
