Video-based knowledge platform facilitates job search in Luxembourg

National Youth Service SNJ releases application tips for young people

Saarbrücken (ptp039/30.11.2012/15:00) In the fight against youth unemployment in Luxembourg, the 'Service National de la Jeunesse' (SNJ) - the National Youth Service - has made public an information platform set up by IMC AG, the "anelo application training". The website provides basic knowledge on the topic of applications in the form of videos, text and e-tests. It caters for young people with the most diverse educational backgrounds.

The bilingual internet platform "anelo application training" addresses a broad target group, starting with young adults with no graduation looking for jobs, to young people looking for an apprenticeship after leaving school through to those looking for their first permanent job after successfully finishing their apprenticeship. In a modern style to appeal to the youth of today, the site uses videos and text to provide information on how to submit a proper application, how to behave correctly during job interviews and making contact subsequently. The project is supported by the 'Fonds Social Européen' (FSE) - the European Social Fund for the support of employment measures in the member states of the EU.

Story-based knowledge platform

The SNJ entrusted IMC AG - leading supplier of learning, talent and new media solutions - with the implementation of the educational concept which implies the provision of a web platform with several short films to take young people on an entertaining journey through the complete application process.

The new media team at IMC developed a framework story around six young people in Luxembourg aged between 16 and 21 years old, all with different educational backgrounds, who meet one another in a youth centre. In different video scenes, the audience experiences the shared worries of the protagonists, accompanies them individually to their interviews and is there when the friends exchange experiences with one another afterwards.

Scenes from real life

The scenes were filmed with young actors and actresses as well as with actual personnel managers from various Luxembourg companies. The latter also give the audience personal tips on applications and interviews in the form of short video statements. In genuine video street polls, people with different backgrounds were also questioned about their vocational backgrounds and asked to give young people looking for a job some good advice to take with them on their search. This lively mix of staged but realistic scenes and examples from real life offers the user an entertaining variety of useful information.

In addition to the videos, the information portal also contains text information and interactive tests which demonstrate whether the users have understood what they have seen and read and can put it into practice for themselves.

"With the learning platform for our project, IMC AG has created an excellent piece of work", praises Jana Gorge, qualified pedagogue and ANELO Project Coordinator at SJN and explains: "The videos appeal to the target audience, the knowledge test is designed variedly and the whole page meets our expectations optically as well!"
