Intersolar 2005 from 23th to 25th June in Freiburg

Profit from the Sun: Solar Investments Enjoy Rising Popularity

Freiburg (pts023/09.05.2005/12:00) More and more people are investing in the sun: the stock prices of solar companies have been rising continually over the last year. The growing demand is the result of steady growth in the solar market. "Solar shares are booming. Next to German shares, like those in SolarWorld or Solon, which both rose by more than 500% in 2004, the international solar share index PPVX was up around 182% last year", explains Max Deml, editor-in-chief of the market letter "ÖKO-INVEST". "The latest investment options and technical innovations will be presented by around 350 solar companies at Intersolar in Freiburg, from 23rd to 25th June 2005. Intersolar is Europe's largest solar technology fair.

Newly installed photovoltaic installations with a total output of 360 MW put Germany at the top of the league table in 2004 and led to a 140% market growth. The German photovoltaics industry generated sales of Eur1.7 billion last year - a positive signal for anyone interested in solar investments." The total value of the companies represented in the solar share index PPVX is now in excess of Eur3 billion having increased more than 10-fold over the last two years. This growth has been due to increases in share prices and new listings", says Mr Deml. Above all, investors see solar shares as a safe investment because of the statutory pay-back regulation, which is set for 20 years in Germany. Against this background, several solar companies are planning intial public offerings before the end of year. Taking the lead this year is the Hamburg-based solar system supplier Conergy AG.

Intersolar, from 23rd to 25th June 2005 in Freiburg, gives an overview of a variety of participation and investment options in German or international solar companies. Apart from capital market investments (funds, shares, etc.), the industry's players will be presenting their innovations and state-of-the art of photo-voltaics, solar thermal technology and solar architecture on an area of 17,000 m^2.

A high-level conference and framework programme complete the trade fair's agenda. The PV Industry Forum, for instance, will be meeting on two days to give a comprehensive overview of developments and future opportunities in the German and international solar energy markets.
