Greek artist Spyros Gerecos presents his art at the SWISSARTEXPO 2020 in Zurich's Main Station
The artist and economist creates expressionist paintings with a comic-like charm
Zurich (ptp010/13.08.2020/10:00) The greek artist Spyros Gerecos will present a selection of his expressionistic paintings digitally in the Zurich Main Station Hall as part of ARTBOX.PROJECT Zürich 2.0 at the SWISSARTEXPO from 20 to 24 August 2020. His newly published art catalogue will also be available, which will allow visitors an even deeper insight into his impressive repertoire. The SWISSARTEXPO is an art festival that offers talented artists from all over the world the opportunity to present their works digitally or in their original form in one of the most visited halls in Europe.
Spyros Gerecos was born in 1970 in Athens, Greece, where he still lives with his family and pursues his passion for art. Before he turned actively to art, he studied economics at the University of Athens, where he successfully completed his master's degree. Later he devoted himself increasingly to his artistic talents and refined them at the Art School of Heliopolis.
Through his many years of experience, Spyros found his way to his now popular expressionist art, which has an almost cartoon-like charm. The artist uses vivid and bold colours and borders the figures in his paintings with strong black lines. This directs the viewer's focus increasingly towards the people depicted, who are the centre of his artworks. In his works, Spyros wants to convey how lonely and isolated we are as individuals in our society, and here he encounters a theme of burning topicality. The artist, however, not only deals with the isolation caused by COVID-19, but also with other sad sides of this phenomenon, such as the loss of loved ones, depression and the feeling of uncertainty.
At the SWISSARTEXPO 2020 in the SBB Event Hall at Zurich Main Station, Spyros will be digitally exhibiting a selection of five artworks. The presented creations cover a wide range of motifs, from landscapes to nude paintings, everything is represented. In addition, his current art catalogue will also be available on site to give visitors an even deeper insight into his creative work.
