Wien (pta040/04.11.2019/16:30 UTC+1) * First digital tower installation opened in South America at the Santa Cruz Airbase in Brazil.
* Argentina is also deploying a Frequentis digital tower at Buenos Aires International Airport.
* Successful acceptance tests reinforce Frequentis' market leadership in digital tower technology.

Together with Frequentis AG (ISIN: ATFREQUENT09), the Brazilian air traffic control authorities DECEA and CISCEA have implemented the first digital tower project in South America at the Santa Cruz Airbase. After a delivery period of only six months, the remote tower was officially inaugurated in mid-October. The solution supplied by Frequentis allows air traffic controllers to manage air traffic from a remote facility, which provides a real-time visualisation of the airport and its surroundings. Digital tools include automatic object detection, continuous monitoring, image recognition, and tracking.

Elsewhere in South America, at the Buenos Aires International Airport in Argentina, the authorities rely on an improved airport surveillance system based on a Frequentis digital tower solution. The system will initially be used as a backup system and will enable the airport to push ahead with expansion work in parallel with full flight operations. This airport expansion has been ongoing since 2016 and will enable the handling of four times more aircraft than at present, doubling the number of departure gates.

"These successful projects confirm Frequentis' leading position in the digital tower market," says Frequentis CEO Norbert Haslacher. "In South America, many of our customers are feeling the pressure to become more efficient, to manage increased demand. Our previous successful projects show that our Digital Tower solutions not only offer a highly innovative product, but that our experience and know-how ensure rapid implementation for our customers."
