Riverbed: Neue Plattform für Application Delivery "as a Service"

Stingray Services Controller bietet extrem flexible ADC-Plattform

Wien (pts036/14.05.2013/16:00) Das Application-Performance-Unternehmen Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: RVBD) hat mit dem neuen Stingray Services Controller eine Plattform entwickelt, mit der Unternehmen nun Application Delivery Controller "as a Service" (ADCaaS) bereitstellen können. So kann die Einführung von Application Delivery Services für jede Netzwerkarchitektur einschließlich Software Defined Networks (SDN) automatisiert werden.

Bislang wurden ADC in einem netzwerkorientierten Modell als "eine Anwendung pro ADC" eingeführt oder mussten in einer geteilten ADC-Infrastruktur die Anforderungen mehrerer Anwendungen erfüllen. Mit dem Stingray Services Controller verwirklicht Riverbed jetzt das Bereitstellungsmodell "ein ADC pro Anwendung". Davon profitieren moderne Anwendungs- und Rechenzentrumsarchitekturen, Workflows und Betriebsmodelle, die eine ADC-Architektur benötigen, mit der Engpässe beseitigt und mehr Dynamik, höhere Automatisierung und kürzere Service-Bereitstellungszeiten geboten werden. Cloud-Anbieter und Unternehmen können ihren ADC jetzt nach Bedarf bereitstellen, skalieren und implementieren.

Herausforderungen von Standard-ADC
IT-Architekten und -Betreiber stehen bei der Implementierung herkömmlicher ADC-Architekturen in einem vorhandenen oder virtualisierten Rechenzentrum angesichts der zunehmend softwaredefinierten Architekturen vor verschiedenen Herausforderungen: So dauert etwa die Einführung von ADC-Services Tage oder Monate und auch die Performance pro Anwendung oder "Kunden" kann nicht garantiert werden. Zudem erfordert die Skalierung von ADC-Prozessen die Bereitstellung von Überkapazitäten vorab anstelle von dynamischer Einrichtung in Echtzeit. ADC-Vorgänge sind außerdem auch zeitaufwendig und umständlich aufgrund langwieriger Change-Control-Prozesse.

Verbrauchsmodell für flexible Skalierung
Mit der Einführung von Stingray Services Controller können Unternehmen und Cloud-Anbieter ihr ADC-Inventar automatisch "as a Service" bereitstellen, lizenzieren, einteilen und verwalten.

Der Stingray Services Controller umfasst außerdem eine neue, kleinere Version des Stingray Traffic Managers (STM) und damit ein neues Verbrauchsmodell. Mit diesem entfällt das herkömmliche durchsatzbasierte ADC-Größenmodell, das Kunden dazu zwang, Traffic Loads zu schätzen und ADC-Kapazitäten vorab bereitzustellen. ADC-Services können jetzt flexibel anhand der Nachfrage und in der richtigen Größe für jede Anwendung im Rechenzentrum angepasst werden und bieten hohe Dichte, vollständige Abgrenzung und Multi-Tenancy-Skalierung.

Verfügbarkeit: Der Stingray Services Controller steht voraussichtlich ab Q3/2013 über den Riverbed-Fachhandel zur Verfügung.
