Vienna (pte017/29.04.2013/10:44) The second edition of the six-kilometre Vienna zoo run will take place on June, 11 in Schönbrunn.

Half of the entry fee will go to a charity, "Die Luftkinder", which helps children with pulmonary hypertension and money will also go into building a new enclosure for the polar bears.

The run will take sportsmen and women around the zoo, pass the elephants, giraffes, orang-utans, penguins and the imperial pavilion. The zoo director Dagmar Schratter said: "The distance is also suitable for beginners and the animal-public is an additional motivation. However, there is a small hill up to the Tirolerhof."

The organiser of the run Gerry Fischer said: "The first edition of the run last year was a huge success. Around 1.350 runners took part in the run and we raised 30,000 Euros."

Registration costs 35 Euros and includes a voucher for a drink, a goodie bag and entry to a get-together at the zoo's Orangerie.

The run takes place at the Schönbrunn zoo on June, 11 at 7 pm. There are limited numbers of spaces available - more information at zoolauf.at
