Mister Geez fuses street photography and digital storytelling at SWISSARTEXPO 2025

Zurich (pts013/06.08.2025/11:00)

From August 20 to 24, 2025, the SBB Event Hall in Zurich's Main Station will host a striking exhibition of Mister Geez's latest photographic and mixed media works during the prestigious SWISSARTEXPO. Visitors can look forward to a body of work that boldly bridges raw street photography and conceptual digital storytelling, challenging perceptions and revealing the unseen.

Mister Geez, born in Martinique and now based in London, has carved a unique path in contemporary visual arts by fusing traditional photographic techniques with modern technology. His journey began in 2014 as a means to connect and narrate lived experiences. Since then, he has documented communities in Haiti, run a creative studio in East London, led workshops for Crisis UK to support individuals experiencing homelessness, and exhibited internationally. Each endeavor enriches the visual and social fabric of his art.

His practice unfolds in two complementary streams: On one hand, his spontaneous black-and-white street photographs capture fleeting expressions and urban intimacy, often hand-printed using the rare platinum/palladium process on Hahnemühle Platinum Rag. This meticulous, analog technique adds striking depth, tactility, and timelessness to his images, such as the hauntingly elegant portrait "Brixton Don". These works are visual poems carved in silver and shadow.

On the other hand, Mister Geez pushes boundaries through experimental mixed media pieces. Using handmade cyanotypes as his canvas, he merges analog photography with AI-generated imagery, data visualisation, and layers of code. This innovative fusion results in complex, otherworldly compositions that unearth hidden narratives and interrogate contemporary systems. Works like "Ancestors Never Die - Constellations VII" echo constellations of human experience, data networks, and cultural memory, blurring the line between human presence and digital abstraction.

His emotionally resonant pieces, such as "Lord Have Mercy" and "Heatwave Gaze", beckon viewers to slow down and reconsider the stories embedded in everyday life. With an eye for empathy and a passion for process, Mister Geez invites us to rediscover our environments with new care and curiosity. His artistic voice, steeped in research yet grounded in street-level truth, presents a rare harmony of heritage, technology, and heart.

Critical response to his work has praised its rare blend of technical mastery and human insight. At previous exhibitions in London and overseas, audiences have been captivated by the contemplative nature of his prints and the provocative questions posed by his hybrid media. Critics highlight how Mister Geez elevates underrepresented perspectives, turning everyday encounters into profound visual meditations. His pieces do not shout, but rather whisper with intention and precision, leaving a lasting imprint on those who engage with them.

Don't miss this exceptional opportunity to explore the multilayered world of Mister Geez at SWISSARTEXPO 2025, from August 20 to 24 in Zurich's Main Station. For a deeper dive into his work, visit geez.mq or follow his artistic journey on Instagram at @same_ol_geez.
