Montana Aerospace: provides crucial expertise to new global safety standards for the aerospace industry

Universal Alloy Corporation Europe, a division of Montana Aerospace, contributes to the development of international guidance shaping Safety Management Systems across the aerospace supply chain

Montana Aerospace is proud to announce that its division Universal Alloy Corporation Europe (UAC Europe) was instrumental in the development of three newly released guidance documents that define international standards for Safety Management Systems (SMS) in the aerospace supply chain. Published as part of the International Aerospace Quality Group's (IAQG) Supply Chain Management Handbook (SCMH), these documents set a global benchmark for integrating safety principles into Quality Management Systems (QMS).

Guidelines for global aerospace safety

UAC Europe expanded the framework's reach to suppliers of all sizes, from Tier 1 manufacturers to smaller sub-tier companies. The organization's operational expertise made the content scalable and practical, helping aerospace companies adopt SMS requirements more efficiently.

Developing the future of global aerospace safety

In addition, UAC Europe is involved in the revision of the standard IAQG 9100 as part of the European sector team. IAQG9100 is one of the most important standards within the aerospace industry, being almost a mandatory requirement for any serious company that plans to operate in this sector. It is based on the well-known ISO 9001 standard with additional requirements for the aerospace industry. It is estimated that the new revision will be published by early 2027.

UAC Europe is also involved in the revision of the standard IAQG 9145 Advanced Product Quality Planning, which is currently in the final phase and will take place later this year, and on the Aerospace APQP Manual, another guidance material under the Supply Chain Management Handbook. Already published guidance materials are Work Transfer Management and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) Metrics and Definitions.
