Montana Aerospace: focuses on technological innovations and international educational projects
Reinach (pta007/09.07.2025/08:30 UTC+2)
With global initiatives, the company is strengthening its position as a future-oriented driving force in the aerospace industry and at the same time setting an example for the support of the next generation
Montana Aerospace is actively involved in promoting young talent in the technical field and is proud to be a partner of the TU Wien Racing Team. The project of the Technische Universität Wien (Vienna University of Technology) has been inspiring students with technical excellence, creativity and interdisciplinary cooperation since 2007. Over 100 students from different disciplines such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, economics and computer science work together to design high-performance vehicles for Formula Student, an international competition in which students demonstrate their skills in design, business planning and teamwork.
With the sponsorship of Montana Aerospace, the 2025 season team can push ahead with important testing and development steps, especially for the main competitions taking place in Austria, Germany and Italy.
"We support TU Wien Racing because the project reflects what Montana Aerospace stands for: Innovation, international cooperation and enthusiasm for technology. It is impressive how students not only contribute knowledge, but also creativity and team spirit," says Vicky Welvaert, Chief Human Resources Officer at Montana Aerospace.
"We are delighted to have Montana Aerospace on board as a new, valuable partner this season, supporting us with its extensive technical expertise and many years of experience in the field of lightweight construction. Montana Aerospace's commitment to training young technical talent is a prime example of how business and science can shape the future together. Together we can show how practical support, interdisciplinary cooperation and global perspectives enable young talents to excel - both professionally and personally," explains Manfred Grafinger, Head of the Institute of Engineering Design and Product Development at TU Wien.
International educational commitment – promoting talent, shaping the future
Montana Aerospace invests in the training of young talent globally – with targeted programs that bring technology to life and promote entrepreneurial thinking. The following overview shows a selection of initiatives that have already been successfully implemented this year:
Career inspiration in Asia: In Vietnam, the division Universal Alloy Corporation (UAC Vietnam) organized a career workshop in cooperation with the University of Da Nang. More than 150 engineering students enthusiastically learned about career opportunities in the aviation industry – a strong boost for the specialists of tomorrow.
Dual learning – school and shop floor: Universal Alloy Corporation Europe (UAC Europe) is collaborating with three professional schools in Romania to support a dual learning program. Soon over 70 new students will begin their training as CNC operator, electronic technician, production plant mechanic, and assembly operator. For 5 to 11 weeks, each student is guided by both a school tutor and a dedicated UAC Europe tutor. The program offers numerous benefits and the chance to grow in a professional and dynamic work environment.
Trainee programs with vision: The division Asco also promotes young talent through trainee programs. Company visits with students or trainees – for example to Airbus in Bremen or in the Asco sites – show how Asco components are integrated into global production chains. In addition, internships and participation in "STEMpact" initiatives (Initiatives to empower young people in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) strengthen technical and intercultural understanding.
Business Case Challenge – experience innovation live: In the Business Case Challenge initiated by Chairman of the Board of Directors Michael Tojner, students face real strategic challenges in the aerospace industry. In these challenges, they combine academic knowledge with practical experience, develop creative solutions and strengthen their entrepreneurial spirit – precisely the qualities that characterize Montana Aerospace.
Global Montana Aerospace Talent Program: Since the company was founded, Montana Aerospace has brought together around 20 talents from its various divisions in different countries each year in the global talent program. Over a period of eight months, the participants work together with experienced mentors on real, company-relevant challenges and develop practical solutions. This is complemented by training in presentation techniques and other key skills to strengthen personal and professional development. The program not only promotes cross-divisional and cross-location collaboration, but also makes a sustainable contribution to securing the future of Montana Aerospace.
With its commitment to the TU Wien Racing project, international partnerships such as that of UAC Vietnam with the University of Da Nang and practical programs such as the dual learning program at UAC Europe, the Asco trainee program, the Business Case Challenge and the global talent program, Montana Aerospace provides sustainable support for young talent on their path into the aviation industry.
