Former model Anja Kossiwakis establishes herself as respected photographer in the fashion world

Anja Kossiwakis, fashion expert and photographer, shows her artworks in Miami

Zurich, Switzerland/Miami (ptp035/19.11.2019/15:00) The German photographer Anja Kossiwakis announces today that two of her artworks, showing the world-renowned fashion icons Karl Lagerfeld and Lady Gaga, will be exhibited digitally during the Miami Art Week as part of the ARTBOX.PROJECT Miami 2.0. The ARTBOX.PROJECT Miami 2.0 will take place from 2nd to 8th December 2019 in the Eduardo Lira Art Gallery situated right next to the world-renowned Wynwood Walls and the annual Art Basel art fair in Miami Beach.

Anja Kossiwakis is an old hand in the fashion industry. At the age of 16, she gained her first foothold in an area that will continue to fascinate her for many years to come. As one of the most famous models of the GDR, she adorned various cover pages of major fashion magazines. Soon, however, she quit her modeling career, completed an apprenticeship as a banking business economist and founded her own family. Nevertheless, she never lost her passion for fashion. Since 2013 she has been writing as a fashion expert for the publishing group "Verlagsgruppe Rhein - Main" in Germany and she loves to take the readers of her own blog into the fashion world. Today, moreover, one finds her not only in front of the camera, but also behind it. As a photographer she attends fashion and award shows all over the world and captures stars like Karl Lagerfeld, Donatella Versace and Gigi Hadid on and behind the stage in her pictures. Her photographs have been printed in various magazines such as Gala, Grazia, OK and many others.

With her skills and experience, the mother of three also supports several charity projects of organizations such as Unicef and Kindernothilfe. In the past, she has volunteered to accompany the children's reporter group "Kichererbsen" (Chick Peas), thus familiarizing young people with press work. Her talent as a photographer showed again when she took the winning picture of a photo competition of "Brot für die Welt" (Bread for the World), a German organization which engages in children's work, human rights and a lot more. In recognition of her great social engagement and her passion with which she devotes herself to her work, she was presented with the Victress Role Model Award in 2013.

The two works of art she will present in Miami both show world-famous faces. The picture of Karl Lagerfeld, who passed away this year, was taken in 2013 after the Chanel Defilee at the Gran Palais in Paris. "Karl Lagerfeld approached me directly and I had the feeling of being alone with him. But the Grand Palais was occupied to the last seat. It was a very special moment for me", the artist says about her work. For her, the picture symbolizes his genius, his loneliness and his way into another world.

The second artwork shows the American pop singer Lady Gaga looking down on her award in emotional silence at the Bambi Awards in Wiesbaden, Germany. In this shot, Kossiwakis has managed to capture the singer, otherwise known as a shrill personality, in an unusually approachable and vulnerable moment, which lends photography its peculiarity.

Furthermore, Kossiwakis recently published her new artist catalogue which will be displayed during the ARTBOX.PROJECT Miami 2.0. On 16 pages, she offers readers a unique insight into her work, including photographs of Peter Lindbergh, Paul McCartney and other legends. The catalogue can also be ordered at: https://artbox-publish.myshopify.com/products/anja-kossiwakis

All art-lovers are cordially invited to visit Anja Kossiwakis' digitally presented artworks and her catalogue at the Eduardo Lira Art Gallery from 2nd to 8th December at 2nd Avenue in Wynwood, Miami.
