Artist Lava Ghayas at the SWISSARTEXPO

The artworks of Lava Ghayas will be presented this August at the SWISSARTEXPO

Zurich, Switzerland (ptp030/08.08.2019/14:30) The Canadian-based artist Lava Ghayas announced today that his works will be exhibited at this year's SWISSARTEXPO from 15th to 19th August 2019 as part of the ARTBOX.PROJECT Zürich 1.0. The art festival will take place at Zurich Central Station and is expected to attract around 400,000 visitors.

Lava Ghayas, born on 26th November 1964, worked as a graphic designer, illustrator, interior designer and set designer for theatre and film after his time at the Damascus Art Academy. In 1998 he moved to Qatar as an illustrator to create digital drawings for a well-known television station. In 2014 he decided to move to Toronto, Canada, where he now lives and works fully dedicated to his artistic career.

The motto with which Lava Ghayas describes his life and works is a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson: "Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." You can also identify this motto in his paintings. He skillfully plays with digital artefacts, double images and alienations. His motifs are always clearly recognizable, the distortions are never just an effect, but rather an expression of the individual dissension of his figures. He creates a temporal dimension for the pictures, tells a story and captures movements.

Lava Ghayas himself was inspired years ago by a student who tried to depict the smell of fried potatoes in her picture. Since then, Lava Ghayas has tried with great success to portray what remains hidden to the human eye: sounds, smells, tastes and feelings. The human being only completes his works when he looks at them and thus becomes a part of the art.

Today the artist also announced the publication of his new art catalogue. The 24-page catalogue presents an exclusive selection of his works. With its excellent print quality, the catalogue is a complete success and can quickly arouse the interest of readers. The catalogue will also be shown at the SWISSARTEXPO as a major prelude.
