Montana Aerospace: Montana Aerospace honored for Sustainability Commitment

Montana Aerospace division Asco Industries has been awarded the VOKA Charter for Sustainable Entrepreneurship on June 19th during a ceremony held in Leuven. This recognition underscores the division's unwavering commitment to implementing sustainable business practices aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
"This achievement is more than just an award for us – it shows how seriously we take our responsibility toward the environment and society. Sustainability is not a short-term goal but a commitment we live by in every step we take," says Vicky Welvaert, CHRO of Montana Aerospace, responsible for HR, ESG, and Communications.
Jérôme Morhet, CEO of Asco, adds: "This recognition proves that our collective efforts are making a real impact. It motivates us to view sustainability not as an obligation, but as an opportunity to create value for our employees, customers, and the environment."
Structured action toward Sustainability
The VOKA Charter is awarded to companies that collaborate with the Belgian Chamber of Commerce to develop and implement a tailored sustainability action plan. Each plan includes at least ten initiatives addressing environmental, social, and economic challenges specifically relevant to the respective organization. After one year of implementation, an external committee evaluates the progress, and upon successful review, the VCDO Charter is granted.
Asco's core measures align with the group's overall ESG strategy and include, among others, the implementation of lean production processes, investments in modern, resource-efficient facilities, and the transition to renewable energy sources. Furthermore, Asco integrates ESG criteria into supplier selection, contributes to more sustainable aviation solutions through research and development, and pursues sustainable mobility concepts. Group-wide reporting and transparent disclosure ensure that progress is trackable and continuous improvements are encouraged.
Global Recognition
Asco's achievement marks the first step toward an even higher distinction. Companies that demonstrate sustained success over three consecutive years and implement measures covering all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) may qualify for the SDG Pioneer Certificate awarded by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). This international recognition is granted through CIFAL Flanders, UNITAR's training center in Belgium. In total, 43 companies received the charter this year from Voka – Chamber of Commerce Vlaams-Brabant.
Asco's Roadmap 2026 for Sustainable Growth and ESG Excellence
Being included in the VOKA Charter is for Asco not only a recognition of past achievements but also a motivation to continuously improve. For 2026, a new action plan has been adopted, which includes redefining vision, mission, and values, promoting ESG initiatives, strengthening the integration of community projects, sustainable procurement, and calculating Scope 4 emissions for research projects. Additionally, employees will be further engaged in climate action through the Glacier program, while health and safety in the workplace will be continuously enhanced.
