Austria / USA / Germany (pta011/03.05.2021/08:00 UTC+2) * Sustained reduction in CO2 with Orthogon's system solutions (including cloud solutions) through optimised air traffic synchronisation
* Closing of the acquisition of the first of three entities under the purchase agreement with L3Harris Technologies
* Expansion of the global market for air traffic control and airports addressed by Frequentis

"We are delighted that we could close the acquisition of Orthogon faster than expected. Orthogon's solutions extend our range of integrated air traffic management solutions," says Frequentis' CEO Norbert Haslacher. "Together, we can now offer our customers an even more extensive range of products with higher performance and increased digitalisation level."

Orthogon, which is based in Bremen, Germany, has been operating successfully in the air traffic control market for around 30 years. In future, it will trade as Frequentis Orthogon GmbH. The company is an innovative provider of air traffic synchronisation solutions for en-route, approach, and airport ATC centres. Its air traffic optimisation solutions can also help reduce air traffic emissions. As part of the Frequentis Group, it will continue to market its products, which will also be included in Frequentis' offering for remote digital towers and air traffic management centres.

Founded in 1987, Orthogon currently has about 80 employees and most recently generated revenue of around Eur10 million p.a. Orthogon will continue to be run by Frank Koehne, who has been its Managing Director since 2009. The purchase agreement was signed on 23 February 2021 and closing took place on 30 April 2021.

"We are delighted to become part of the Frequentis Group and contribute our long-standing expertise in air traffic optimisation. The stability of Frequentis Orthogon is an important criterion for continuing our business relationship with our international customers," says Frank Koehne, Managing Director of Orthogon.

Together, the companies are optimistic about the future and anticipate growth in both the air traffic control and the airports business. This acquisition is especially successful for Frequentis as it has been endeavouring to obtain an interest in this market-leading company for more than 15 years.

The acquisition of the other two L3Harris entities (the Harris ATC Solutions business unit of Harris Canada Systems Inc., Gatineau, Canada, and Harris C4i Pty. Ltd., Melbourne, Australia) is expected to be completed in the coming months and is subject to regulatory approvals.
