Frequentis AG: New mega airport in Beijing with FREQUENTIS communication solution

Wien (pta013/25.09.2019/11:11 UTC+2) * Frequentis has been operating in China with its own subsidiary since 2012
* Integrated total solution for capital city airport for more than 100 million passengers
* With a global market share of around 30%, Frequentis is No. 1 in the market for voice and data communications for civil air navigation services

After a total construction period of only four years, the new Beijing Daxing International Airport officially went into operation on 25 September 2019. When fully completed, it will handle over 100 million passengers a year. Frequentis AG (ISIN: ATFREQUENT09), the leading voice and data communications provider for civil air traffic control, implemented its state-of-the-art 3020X voice communications system, an emergency system and a network solution with full IP integration for the new airport. The network comprises the two towers at the new airport, the new and existing system for controlling and monitoring arrivals, and departures as well as the connection to the air traffic control centre in Beijing. In addition, several test and training facilities were supplied.

The concept for this was developed together with the customer in a series of workshops and working groups. This not only created an optimised overall solution for the new international traffic hub of the Chinese capital; the standard set in this way can now also be used by other airports in China.

Frequentis CEO Norbert Haslacher is pleased about the international prestige success: "The project underlines our growth course in Asia and our market leadership in the field of air traffic control in China. The solution for the new airport in Beijing is highly innovative and has great potential for the future - we are proud that the Chinese air navigation services have chosen us as their technology partner".

Frequentis has been working with the Chinese air navigation service provider for more than 20 years and has successfully completed a large number of projects. Five of the seven major air traffic control centres in China are equipped with Frequentis technology. In autumn 2017, it was therefore almost "logical" for the Austrian high-tech company to be awarded the contract for the communication system at Beijing Daxing International Airport, the mega-airport that has now opened.
