* 2. International Mermaid Contest from October 15th-30th, 2016, creates new impulses for Egyptian tourism

'Splish-Splash' at Marsa Alam's Red Sea coast! These days, the whole world looked at Egypt, where in the RED SEA HOTELS, the 2nd International Mermaid Contest made underwater history! 30 beautiful mermaids from all over the world rose from the turquoise depth of the sea to qualify for the titles MISS MERMAID INTERNATIONAL and MISS MERMAID GERMANY 2016/2017. The mermaids came from all over the world to participate in that exciting spectacle, e. g. from Germany, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Serbia, the UK, Kosovo, Tunisia, the US, Singapur, Thailand, Mexico, Egypt, from the Philippines and from the Virgin Islands.

Mermaids have more fun - Poseidons daughters paid a visit to the Pharaohs

The RED SEA HOTELS, one of the leading Egyptian hotel chains, was the generous sponsor and host of the Mermaid competition. The RED SEA HOTELS with hotels in Hurghada, Makadi Bay, Marsa Alam and Sharm El Sheikh are exclusively distributed in Europe by the renowned tour operator ETI Express Travel International GmbH. The event was also supported by the Egyptian Tourist Authority. The Mermaids were on cloud 9 when flying into Egypt with Egyptian national carrier EgyptAir who was flight partner of the competition.

In the RED SEA HOTEL "Sunwing Waterworld Makadi", near Hurghada, with its fantastic aquaparc, the mermaids had to perform at watersports challenges, exciting foto shootings and mermaiding in their costumes by www.magictail.de. The look, the charisma, the "Bella Figura" under water - at some of the best diving spots in Egypt, the sporty mermaids completed a demanding 2-weeks contest programme, containing watersport Olympics, reef and distance diving. After the first event week, the Mermaid Camp relocated to Marsa Alam's RED SEA HOTEL "The Palace Port Ghalib" for more glamour and the really big show!

Egypt - lifestyle destination for large international events

The extravagant action competition, which was hosted in Egypt for the 2nd time, created a huge international media hype and thus new impulses for the tourism industry in Egypt.

Tamer Marzouk, Egyptian Tourism Counsellor for Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Poland states: "Egypt is the perfect holiday destination for international top events - whether sports events, fashion shows, model contests or all in one like the Miss Mermaid World Finals - we offer the beauty of nature with a fantastic variety of leisure time activities, a high-level hospitality sector and first-class infrastructure."

As the passionate Miss Mermaid Contest inventor William Balser of Euromodel emphasized, "We chose the RED SEA HOTELS in Egypt as our event location because here, we have everything we need. Great hospitality, world-class service and excellent hotels. We became friends of Egypt and are already looking forward to the 3rd Miss Mermaid World Finals in the country."

Arielle's successor found - Mermaid from Bavaria is Germany's number 1

After the talent show was cancelled due to an unusual thunderstorm, the final show turned out to be a massive top-class entertainment spectacle with bikini-walk, gala-gown-runway, national costume presentation, talent show and mermaid-dance. Eastern Bavarian beauty Stefanie Seitz (24) dominated against all of her German rivals and won before Alina Simon (17) - also from Bavaria - and Sabrina Weber (29) from the Saarland the title MISS MERMAID GERMANY 2016/2017.

Vive la France - MISS MERMAID INTERNATIONAL is a Frenchwoman

The Seine beats Hudson River - Ingrid Fabulet (26) swam confident in front of Franziska Anneler (25) from Switzerland and Lauren Chen (29) from New York - straight to catch the MISS MERMAID INTERNATIONAL crown. The two competition categories were evaluated by a competent jury comprised of model experts, Express Travel International GmbH und RED SEA HOTELS representatives plus high-level Egyptian VIPs and German celebrities.

Winners' prizes and a brilliant show around the shell-crown

At the exclusive competition, the mermaid who became champions gained big prizes - a 2-weeks luxury holiday in RED SEA HOTELS'/ Express Travel International's 5-star resort Makadi Spa. The promoter of the competition signed the winning mermaids for a one-year contract at the prestigious model agency Euromodel. On top of that, Red Sea Governor General Major Ahmed Abdullah awarded the mermaid champions with a prestigious honorary award.

Dramatic tension and atmosphere until the end! Guests of The Palace Port Ghalib, international journalists and VIPs celebrated the beauties until the morning hours at the great show. DJ Hightower with party beats and the humorous smart host duo Lutz Riemenschneider and Benjamin Schnau, who joked at a high-rate in two languages throughout the evening, created a very special show atmosphere.

Perfect organization

The many helpers & staff did a masterly performance.

Styling: The hairstyling team Ute Mandler from Haarscharf Studios from Wetzlar was responsible for the perfect hairdo. The Catwalk Make-Up team from Frankfurt did a phenomenal job for the mermaids' catwalk performance.

Film & photo: 5 professional photographers and filmmakers - on land and under water - were 24 hours in action: underwater specialist and film producer Georg Erdmann, beauty & lifestyle photographers Alex Feyh and Andreas Schuhmacher as well as cameramen and film producers Hubert Peus of Powerline and Thomas Krüger of Flying Media.

Chaperones: Responsible for the underwater etiquette of the mermaids were Edit Stein, Hessica Kröll and Verena Gobrecht.
Prizewinner-trip: Especially the guests who won a raffle trip within a promotion of Radio Primavera were thrilled to participate and were mentored by the famous hostess and celebrity columnist Liane Wirzberger on-site.
