Frequentis AG: Qatar marks major digital aviation milestone with first data-driven eAIP

Vienna (pta024/13.10.2026/15:30 UTC+2)

  • QCAA publishes first data-driven electronic aeronautical information publication (eAIP) using Frequentis technology in partnership with Bayanat Engineering Qatar
  • This achievement delivers the foundation for Digital NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) and future Trajectory-Based Operations (TBO)
  • The project strengthens Qatar's position as a leader in aviation digitalisation across the Middle East

Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA), responsible for regulating civil aviation in Qatar, is one of the organisations leading the transition towards Trajectory-Based Operations (TBO) and a fully digital, data-driven aeronautical information environment.

As part of this transformation, QCAA has released its first data-driven electronic aeronautical information publication (eAIP), marking a major milestone in aeronautical information management (AIM). The achievement was enabled through the Frequentis CADAS AIM product suite delivered in partnership with Bayanat Engineering Qatar.

The implementation enables QCAA to manage, validate, and publish aeronautical information from a single digital data source, improving consistency, reducing manual effort, and enabling faster publication of critical information for airspace users.

This marks a significant step towards TBO, shifting from text-based processes to a fully digital aeronautical data environment. It provides a blueprint for Digital NOTAM and SWIM-based information exchange across the Gulf and the wider Middle East, supporting safer, more efficient, and interoperable operations in line with the International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO) global aviation roadmap.

"QCAA's first data-driven eAIP shows digital AIM becoming an operational reality. It establishes a modern environment that supports today's needs and lays the foundation for future capabilities such as TBO. We are proud to support QCAA together with Bayanat Engineering Qatar in this milestone," says Josef Kutschi, Managing Director of Frequentis Comsoft.

"By combining local expertise with proven technology, we have delivered a future-ready solution that strengthens efficiency, resilience, and Qatar's digital aviation vision. This also sets a benchmark for the wider Middle East region," says Hassan Ezzeddine, Managing Partner at Bayanat Engineering Qatar.

The project reflects close collaboration between QCAA, Frequentis, and Bayanat Engineering Qatar and highlights a shared commitment to advancing aviation through digital innovation across Qatar and the wider Middle East.
