3U HOLDING AG: 3U receives permit for new Breite Eiche wind farm in North Rhine-Westphalia

Marburg, 25 June 2026 – Windpark Breite Eiche GmbH & Co. KG, in which 3U HOLDING AG (ISIN DE0005167902) holds a majority stake through its wholly-owned subsidiary 3U ENERGY AG, has received the permit under the German Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG) from the district of Siegen-Wittgenstein for two modern wind turbines at the Breite Eiche site. With this positive ruling, a key regulatory basis has been established for the 3U Group's first newly built wind farm site in North Rhine-Westphalia – a further step in the consistent expansion of the Renewable Energies segment.

Key regulatory milestone cleared

The BImSchG permit is a central hurdle for any wind energy project: the procedure examines the relevant public-law permitting requirements for the construction and operation of the turbines. The successful completion of this procedure provides an important basis for the further implementation steps. At the same time, the permit bundles several approvals in one: in addition to the immission control permit, it includes the building permit, the aviation approval and the forest conversion permit. The approval covers the two turbines including the ancillary areas required for their construction and operation.

Two powerful turbines, 13.6 megawatts of green capacity

Two turbines of the type Nordex N175/6.X – modern, high-yield turbines of the latest generation – are planned at the Breite Eiche site, each with a nominal capacity of up to 6.8 megawatts (MW), a hub height of 179 m, a rotor diameter of 175 m and an overall height of 267 m. Together they bring 13.6 MW of installed capacity to the site; according to the current yield forecast, the wind farm can thus supply more than 10,000 households with climate-friendly electricity. Upon commissioning, the installed wind and solar capacity attributable to the 3U Group will rise to around 87 MW.

On the way to the grid

The Breite Eiche wind farm is to take part in the Federal Network Agency's (Bundesnetzagentur) auction for onshore wind turbines in financial year 2026. Subject to a successful award and the further technical implementation steps, construction could begin from 2027; according to current planning, commissioning and the first feed-in of electricity are possible in the period from late 2027 to early 2028. For the realisation of the Breite Eiche wind farm, based on current project planning – including wind turbines, infrastructure, grid connection preparation and further project implementation costs – 3U estimates an investment volume in the low to mid double-digit million euro range.

Outlook: expansion planned in the surrounding area

Beyond the two turbines now approved, 3U intends to add two further wind turbines in the surrounding area of the Breite Eiche project. Planning for a possible expansion is progressing but remains at an early project stage. For this expansion, an alternative marketing route is envisaged. In future, the electricity generated is to be marketed by way of direct supply.
