Altech Advanced Materials AG (AAM / the Company) (FRA: AMA1) announces that a contract has been signed with Küttner GmbH & Co KG (Küttner) for the construction of Altech Industries Germany GmbH's (AIG) Silumina Anodes pilot plant in Schwarze Pumpe in Saxony, Germany.
The pilot plant is designed to produce 120 kg per day of Silumina Anodes, the name of the high-performance anode coating material, Altech recently announced the results of its breakthrough technology for incorporating silicon into lithium-ion batteries. Based on in-house research and development, the company has developed a battery with 30% higher performance and lifetime compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries. The material produced at the pilot plant will be made available to selected European battery and automotive manufacturers for testing and qualification purposes.
Küttner is a German-based industrial plant builder and EPC contractor with extensive experience in engineering, procurement, project and construction management, and plant commissioning. The company has completed metallurgical, water and waste gas treatment projects in Germany. Küttner has completed the final design and cost estimate of the pilot plant and will start the procurement process immediately. Construction of the pilot plant is expected to start towards the end of this year, taking into account equipment delivery times. The pilot plant will be established in Dock3 (leased warehouse space), directly next to the location of the future production plant in Schwarze Pumpe in Saxony.
The final battery coating plant of Altech Industries Germany GmbH is expected to have an annual capacity of 10,000 tonnes of Silumina Anodes. AIG is a joint venture between AAM (25%) and Altech Chemicals Limited, Australia (75%).
