CropEnergies AG: CropEnergies AG joins eFuel Alliance

Mannheim (pta015/13.12.2021/11:05 UTC+1)

CropEnergies AG, Mannheim, has joined the over 150 member strong eFuel Alliance e.V., Berlin, Germany. More than any other association, the eFuel Alliance e.V. stands for scientific competence and practicable, social and realizable climate protection in mobility. The members from a wide variety of sectors speak with a unified voice in order to implement effective climate protection in a technology-neutral manner in the future.

Dr Stephan Meeder, CEO of CropEnergies AG: "We are convinced that effective climate protection in mobility needs all technical options. It will still take some time before e-mobility can make a significant contribution to this, but CO2 emissions from combustion engines can also be reduced considerably. With renewable ethanol, this can already be achieved today. And in the future, thanks to its high octane rating, our sustainable ethanol can be a perfect complement to synthetic fuels produced in a climate-neutral way. Furthermore, high-purity CO2 is released during fermentation when producing ethanol, which was extracted from the ambient air by the biomass during its growth and, together with green hydrogen, is a basic building block for eFuels."

Ralf Diemer, Managing Director of the eFuel Alliance: "We are very pleased that CropEnergies has joined the eFuel Alliance and look forward to the close cooperation this will bring. The company demonstrates that renewable fuels are already a reality today and can make an important contribution to climate protection – and if the right course is set by politicians, this contribution will increase in the future. Incidentally, CropEnergies clearly shows how important it is to be open to all kinds of technologies, because renewable ethanol not only helps to reduce CO2 emissions today, but also represents an important basis for the further development of eFuels in the future."

Stephan Meeder continues: "My impression from the last members' meeting has confirmed: With the eFuel Alliance, we have joined a strong association whose members are all pulling in the same direction and are committed to defossilising transport. We look forward to future exchanges."

CropEnergies AG

Sustainable, renewable products made from biomass – that is what CropEnergies stands for. Our products contribute to a climate-friendly world and ensure that fossil carbons remain in the ground permanently and do not continue to drive climate change.

Founded in Mannheim in 2006, the member of the Südzucker Group is the leading European producer of renewable ethanol. With a production capacity of 1.3 million m3 of ethanol per year, CropEnergies produces neutral alcohol as well as technical alcohol (ethanol) for a wide range of applications at locations in Germany, Belgium, the UK, and France: Sustainably produced ethanol as a petrol substitute is an answer to the future challenges of climate-friendly energy supply in the transport sector. Thanks to highly efficient production plants, our ethanol reduces CO2 emissions by an average of more than 70% across the entire value chain compared to fossil fuel. Our high-quality alcohol is also used in beverage production, cosmetics, pharmaceutical applications, for example as a basis for disinfectants, or as a raw material for innovative biochemicals.

Equally important are the resulting protein food and animal feed products as a sustainable regional alternative to emission-intensive protein imports from overseas, as well as biogenic carbon dioxide. It is used in beverage production, among other things, and will be a valuable raw material for a wide range of applications in transport and industry in the future. Thus, all raw material components are utilised in our circular economy.

CropEnergies AG (ISIN DE000A0LAUP1) is listed on the regulated market (Prime Standard) of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
