In 2020, the Rosenbauer Group successfully overcame the restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic and once again achieved a record year. Both revenues and EBIT reached historic highs of Eur 1,041.3 million (2019: Eur 978.1 million) and Eur 57.0 million (2019: Eur 51.9 million) respectively. Six years ago, the Executive Board defined the "sales billion" as a long-term target for 2020. The increase in deliveries and efforts to reduce operating capital also meant that the stock of finished goods and work in progress were reduced in the previous year. Staff costs were slightly higher than in the previous year, while material use decreased significantly year-on-year. As of the end of the year, the EBIT margin amounted to around 5.5%.

In 2020, the global firefighting industry held its ground in a declining economic environment, and is even expected to have achieved slight growth. Against this backdrop, Rosenbauer once again expanded its business volume. The Middle East, Central and Eastern Europe, and North America in particular recorded higher deliveries. By contrast, business in Asia was down due to the COVID-19 pandemic originating in the region and the standstill in China, the largest single market.

The financial result was at the level of the previous year, with lower shares of joint ventures being offset by likewise lower interest expenses. Earnings before taxes (EBT) therefore amounted to Eur 50.5 million (2019: Eur 45.5 million).

Orders
In the past year, the Rosenbauer Group reported solid incoming orders of Eur 1,007.7 million (2019: Eur 1,073.0 million). Orders in the CEEU (Central and Eastern Europe) and NOMA (North and Central America) sales regions in particular increased, as did the Stationary Fire Protection segment. In the US, for example, almost ten initial orders were received for the Revolutionary Technology (RT) - the first Rosenbauer firefighting vehicle with an alternative drive system. The MENA area was stable compared with 2019. At Eur 1,072.1 million as of December 31, 2020 (2019: Eur 1,149.5 million), the order backlog was on a par with consolidated annual revenue.

Based on this solid order backlog, Rosenbauer's Executive Board expects stable revenues and, once again, an EBIT margin in the region of 5% for 2021. Possible business disruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic do not allow for a more precise forecast at this point in time.

The above figures are based on advance calculations in accordance with IFRS. The final figures for 2020 will be published on April 9, 2021.
