Vienna (pta006/13.07.2020/07:29 UTC+2) * Contract for PERLE project to install communication system at police and fire control rooms in Hamburg
* Digitisation enables multimedia use in the field of public safety
* Expansion of the leading market position in Germany - Frequentis technology used at over 80 locations with more than 1,700 dispatcher working positions at blue light organisations

With a population of around 1.8 million, Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany - over five million people live in its metropolitan region. As part of the project PERLE (in German: Projekt ERneuerung LEitstellen, project renewal control room), the city of Hamburg, represented by the Ministry of the Interior and Sport, selected Frequentis to install a new harmonised communication system for both the police and fire services of the district.

"With PERLE we are gaining a future and technology-oriented customer who considers Frequentis the technology partner for future multimedia applications," says Frequentis CEO Norbert Haslacher. "This order is another major step for our public safety software platform LifeX TM and has an important signal effect in the industry."

The objective of PERLE is to equip the fire brigade and police with a new operational control system to meet current and future requirements of the fire brigade, police, as well as citizens and visitors of the city of Hamburg. In addition to the use of telephony and digital radio, the new communication system shall also enable the modern, interactive use of multimedia information, e.g. from social networks or communication via messenger services and corresponding apps in control centres.

Frequentis convinced the customers with an innovative solution concept based on the 3020 LifeX TM software platform. The multi-stage award procedure for the strategically important project started in September 2019 and Frequentis was awarded the contract in May 2020.

In addition to the communication system, the ordered communication system consists of the operational control system and the geographic information system. It includes more than 220 working positions for call talkers and dispatchers of the fire brigade and police. It will be operated in two central data centres in the decentralised control centre locations.

In addition to the delivery and installation of the communication system, the scope of services also includes system maintenance for 10 years.

About the PERLE project

The "PERLE" project (in German: Projekt ERneuerung LEitstellen, project renewal control room) currently focuses on the modernisation of the operational control systems of the Hamburg fire brigade and police. In addition to the technical modernisation, also new buildings are planned for both control centers.
