Aluflexpack AG: Notice on good progress at Eliopack

Reinach (pta039/08.08.2019/18:01 UTC+2) On June 25th, Aluflexpack AG ("Aluflexpack" or "Group") informed the public about a fire that had occurred at its subsidiary Eliopack in the industrial zone of Ajeux in La Ferté-Bernard, France. The fire broke out outside of the production building in the washing area close to the ink department and affected parts of the facilities' electrical infrastructure, caused damage to existing stock and assets in or in proximity to the facilities' ink department and led to temporary alternative production routing within the Group, which proved effective.

Independent experts' investigation of the incident confirms on a preliminary basis that the fire was caused by a broken cable and that there were no wrongdoings by Eliopack. Moreover, authorities affirm the legal conformity of existing safety and construction measures of the building and operations, which limited the damage and prevented any environmental issues related to the incident.

Aluflexpack confirms that the electrical infrastructure has been completely reinstalled. Production areas not affected by fire have been fully operational within one week after the incident and performing flawlessly ever since. Other machines started production within three weeks after the incident. The cleaning and decontamination process of the remaining machines is still ongoing and progressing well. Management expects the process to be finished stepwise in the second halve of August and to be able to resume production on these machines in usual manner and in accordance with the companies' high quality standards.

Based on initial and ongoing discussions with customers and insurance companies, Aluflexpack's management expects all costs related to the incident to be covered by existing insurance policies regarding the areas property damage, business interruption and liability and confirms its initial expectation, that the incident will not lead to a material loss of revenues or contribution margin on a group level, if at all.

"Several departments of Eliopack started normal operation within a week, others after three weeks. Soon, we expect the remaining machines to be ready to produce. In the meantime, close cooperation with our customers, effective contingency plans and alternative production routes assured no significant interruption of deliveries. I thank our customers, partners and all involved for their fantastic support and continued trust", says Igor Arbanas, CEO of Aluflexpack.
