United Labels AG (ISIN: DE 0005489561, WKN: 548956) recorded Group revenue of Eur22.9 million (prev. year: Eur24.1 million) in the first nine months of 2017. At Eur1.8 million (prev. year: Eur0.7 million), earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) more than doubled year on year. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) increased more than five-fold, taking the figure to Eur1.3 million (prev. year: Eur0.2 million). The improvement in earnings was again attributable to a substantial increase in the Group's gross profit margin by 6.6 percentage points to 35.5% due to a steady rise in the share of higher-margin revenue from the Special Retail segment, particularly in Germany. Post-tax earnings for the Group improved to Eur0.2 million, up from Eur-0.7 million in the same period a year ago.
In Germany, in particular, business within the Special Retail segment developed very well with regard to sales from "Pummeleinhorn" and "Diddl" merchandise. The company attracted a number of new specialty retailers and retail chains within these specific areas and significantly expanded its product range.
As scheduled, the fourth quarter will see the launch of a new exclusive collection by the well-known cartoonist Ralph Ruthe. The first products from this range are to be shipped by the end of this year.
Further new merchandise themes are planned for 2018, in addition to an expansion of existing product ranges.
