Pankl Racing Systems AG: Pankl builds new high performance drivetrain components factory in Kapfenberg

The Pankl Racing Systems AG Supervisory Board approved the building of a new factory for premium drivetrain components and systems. Capital expenditure will total Eur25m, Eur9m of which will be for building infrastructure and Eur16m for machinery to produce high performance drivetrain components and systems.

From April 2016 a new, self-contained 9,000 square metre production facility will be built in Kapfenberg. This facility will have a manufacturing area of 6,000 square metres. The machinery will commence operations from 2017 onwards. Production ramp-up will take several years. The new facility will cover the whole value-added chain (metal cutting, heat and surface treatment, assembly and logistics) from raw parts to finished components. Until 2019 we will create 75 new jobs.

Pankl CEO Wolfgang Plasser: "This new production facility is a logical next step in executing our strategy to focus new investments on our fast growing high performance business. In 2012, we built a new high performance engine components facility in neighbouring Bruck upon Mur. In 2014, we completed a major capex programme in Kapfenberg-based Pankl forging technology. It was important for us that our new facility will cover the complete value-added chain from the start. I am also very happy that we will intensely apply new advanced additive manufacturing techniques. "
