Largest rooftop PV installation will produce an estimated 210.240 kWh per year

Photon Energy Investments has taken its first Australian power plant into its portfolio. The rooftop plant, developed by its sister company Photon Energy Projects in Australia, is the largest rooftop installation in the region and was already ready to be connected in March. Further Australian projects are in the pipeline.
Photon Energy Investments, a division of solar power solutions company Photon Energy, has acquired a rooftop power plant with an installed capacity of 144 kWp located in Symonston, near the Australian capital Canberra. The power plant is currently the largest rooftop plant in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and will produce an estimated 210.240 kWh per year. The plant was constructed and commissioned by sister company Photon Energy Engineering Australia Pty Ltd.
The project was acquired in line with Photon Energy Investment's low-risk strategy, which is based on entering new markets by at first taking over smaller pilot projects developed by on-location subsidiaries or project partners.
Photon Energy Investments' portfolio of PV power plants now includes 26 power plants with an installed capacity of 28 MWp in four countries. Following the placement of a corporate bond earlier this year Photon Energy Investments plans to further expand its portfolio. In Australia alone Photon Energy has over 25 MWp of projects under development.
Australia boasts the highest average solar radiation by square meter of any continent and has long been seen as an ideal market for solar power. In a white paper published in 2012 the Australian government has laid out a vision of the continent relying on clean energy and largely eliminating coal-fired power stations by 2050. Australia has an active market in Renewable Energy Certificates and has implemented the world's first Carbon Tax charging polluters for carbon emissions in a move to encourage the use of renewable energies including solar power.
