Berlin, February 3 – Just days before the international film world descends on Berlin for the Berlin International Film Festival, one of photography's most influential visual storytellers takes center stage: Michel Comte opens his exhibition "Nostalgia Of The Image" at the Sleek Art Space in Berlin.

Curated and presented in collaboration with Sleek, the exhibition focuses on Comte's iconic portraits of film stars and cultural icons. These are images that defined eras, shaped public perception, and still feel strikingly contemporary. Powerful, intimate, and unmistakably cinematic.

From Hollywood legends to modern screen icons, Comte's photographs go far beyond celebrity imagery. They are visual character studies: confident yet vulnerable, timeless yet rooted in the moment. His work has appeared in the world's leading magazines and campaigns, influencing generations of photographers and creatives.

The exhibition marks a deliberate step to introduce Comte's photography to a broader and younger audience, reconnecting iconic imagery with today's visual culture.

"Michel Comte's images don't age; they evolve," says Ulli Michel, CEO of action press, the exclusive licensing partner of Michel Comte's photographic work from this defining period. "They feel as relevant on a phone screen today as they did on the pages of glossy magazines decades ago. This exhibition is about rediscovering that power."

"Michel Comte's photographs are pure presence," adds Christian Bracht, publisher of Sleek. "They capture film icons at a moment when image-making was about trust, intensity, and real connection. Showing this body of work in Berlin, right before Berlinale, feels natural. It's a reminder that great images don't just accompany cinema; they help define how we remember it."

Andreas Putsch of Éditions Comte: "The archive captures a defining chapter of Michel Comte's work. These images show why his photographs remain culturally relevant, both as nostalgic artefacts and visual reference points that still resonate today."

Opening on February 10 at Sleek Art Space, the show sets the perfect tone ahead of Berlinale: international, bold, and unapologetically visual. A reminder that great photography does more than document fame — it creates it.
