Frequentis AG: Simplifying tower complexity: FREQUENTIS launches TowerX for safer, smarter, and integrated operations
Wien (pta006/19.11.2025/07:06 UTC+1)
- Next-generation tower automation product, combining four Frequentis modules into a single, integrated system
- Designed to streamline operations, enhance safety, and boost operational and system performance
- Data-centre ready and backed by robust safety and security architectures
- Scalable deployment for towers of all sizes
Air traffic operations are evolving rapidly, driven by tighter regulations, and growing cyber security requirements, as well as the need for more frequent system updates, yet many towers remain fragmented, increasing operational and technical complexity.
TowerX revolutionises tower operations through a unified, intelligent, and modular platform that empowers controllers while enhancing safety, efficiency, and situational awareness, even under severe weather conditions or in high-traffic situations.
"TowerX is more than a product, it's our strategic move to deliver future-ready, integrated innovation that adapts to every environment," says Reinhard Grimm, Frequentis Executive Vice President ATM. "It reduces integration overheads, and brings operational and technical teams closer together through harmonisation. TowerX is already being implemented in key projects in Norway and Australia, proving its capability."
Integrated, adaptable, compliant
Central to TowerX is the integrated Controller Working Position (iCWP), which delivers a user-friendly human-machine interface (HMI) for routing, guidance, surveillance, and flight data. Its adaptable design ensures seamless integration across diverse operational needs, controller workflows, and deployment models for digital tower environments.
Unified system management and scalability
Through integration with MosaiX, Frequentis' open digital platform, TowerX benefits from unified system management and orchestration. This allows service deployment, health monitoring, and lifecycle control across all modules from a single HMI, enabling cost-efficient operations and simplified technical supervision in operation.
TowerX is designed to scale – from small regional towers to complex multi-runway airports and contingency environments, as well as from conventional to digital towers. With a harmonised architecture and versatile configuration options, TowerX supports incremental growth, multi-site deployments, and seamless integration with legacy or third-party systems. It's the platform of choice for future-proof tower operations.
Built on a modern, service-oriented architecture, TowerX combines four proven Frequentis products – smartSTRIPS, smartTOOLS, smartVISION, and TowerPad – into a single integrated solution. Each of these legacy products now operates as a specialised module, enabling a harmonised user experience and a shared product lifecycle.
