Gera O'Shio fuses conventional painting with digital technology and poetry - at the SWISSARTEXPO 2020

The artist presents his artworks digitally from 20 - 24 August 2020 at Zurich Main Station

Zurich (ptp022/10.08.2020/13:00) The artist Gera O'Shio announces today that a selection of his artworks will be repre- sented digitally at the SWISSARTEXPO from 20 - 24 August 2020 in Zurich's main rail- way station. His recently published art catalogue will also be available on site. The SWISSARTEXPO is an art festival where artists of all styles come together to create a diverse and varied exhibition in one of the most visited halls in Europe in the heart of Zurich.

Gera O'Shio is an artist who creates modern art by combining digital technology with conventional painting and poetry. The aim of his art is to evoke emotions and stimulate reflection and daydreams. Gera O'Shio, a self-taught artist, tries to find the essential in a painting and to emphasize this in his compositions. Everything else becomes background, blurred, colorless or unreal.

Flowers are among his favourite motifs. According to a quotation of Buddha: "If you could see the wonder of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change", he creates dreamlike paintings from natural aspects and hopeful interpretations. The flower paintings are digitally produced in a pastel charming style that is as realistic as possible, but does not exaggerate perfection, as this is not supposed to be pure photography - a work that requires absolute concentration and thus creates distraction from everyday problems. This digitally painted flower is thereby placed in a different, often surrealistic context, where digital extractions of photographs are often used, reflecting the random patterns of abstract acrylic painting. Therefore, the background is generally abstract, so that the colours and shapes of the foreground are brought into perfect balance.

The art of Gera O'Shio generally seems simple, plain and concentrates on the essentials decorated with a Japanese or Asian touch. Each painting is given a small poem as a title, which is structured similarly to a Japanese haiku and is inseparably connected to the flower and its background. In this way the ingenious artist appeals to the thoughts and reflections of the viewer.

At this year's SWISSARTEXPO in the SBB event hall in the heart of Zurich, O'Shio will present three of his artworks in their digital form. His newly published art catalogue will also be available on site to offer visitors an even deeper insight into his creative work.
